We would like to dedicate the following pages to our beloved Chows who have crossed over and are now resting peacefully. They will always have a very special place in our hearts and the hearts of those who knew them. |
Memorial for Betabear Black Sultan (Suli)
He was not quite eight years old when Sultan left
very suddenly on Good Friday, the 21st April 2000 with what we believe to be a
case of severe enteritis. Being a public holiday we were unable to find a local vet who
could administer appropriate treatment, even to setting up an IV to give us that little
bit more time to get him to a veterinary surgeon in Brisbane, three hours drive away. It
was one of the most devasting times of my life, and he passed away in my arms
only hours later. Sultan was a very special boy, wonderful character,
always full of fun and creating mischief. He was affectionately known to family and
friends as a scallywag. As a youngster he tended to chew his tail, usually at
the mention of Show or when I had posted the entries off, so he missed many
shows, which we believed was his intention. At his very first show at Durack, Brisbane, he was awarded Baby Puppy Of Show over 20 other babies under Mrs Walker of Queensalnd. He looked particularly beautiful at what was to be his last show in September 1999 when Mr Miles Gunter of New South Wales awarded Sultan Best In Non Sporting Group at a local all breeds Championship Show. Sultan died with 95 points, 5 points short of his Australian Championship title. I can only be thankful now for the lovely progeny
Suli left behind in his daughters Regina and Samantha and his son Leo, with K and S Kane
of Malaboo Chows, and Roberto, with Mrs Gloria Luff of Kichako/Sechari Kennels Victoria. A big thank you to Ricky Stap of Betabear Chows in West Australia for sending me such a beautiful boy back in 1992. |
